On Tuesday May 9th, President Donald Trump fired the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director James Comey. The shocking and surprising announcement ended the career of the man who was once seen as the unimpeachable and nonpartisan ideal of how a law enforcement officer should behave, CNN reported.
In a letter to former FBI director James Comey, Trump said: “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau…”
Per the Telegraph, the dismissal was connected to Comey’s handling of the investigation into the democratic nominee Hilary Clinton’s email server. It should be recalled that during the electoral race in late 2016, controversies cropped on Hilary Clinton following junk of emails in her email server. However, democrats are said to refute the claim based on the notion that Comey was getting too close to issues relating to Russia in the Whitehouse.
President Donald Trump’s move is regarded by some analysts as ridiculing to Comey’s career and person. However, Trump tweeted that “…democrats have said some of the worst things about James Comey, including the fact that he should be fired, but now they play so sad.”
